A Letter From Our Principal

Dear Lightfoot Families,

Welcome to Lightfoot Elementary School… Home of the Leopards. To our returning students, welcome back! To our newest Leopards, I want to welcome you into our Lightfoot family for the 2020-2021 school year. There have been a lot of new adventures for us all. With the COVID-19 pandemic resulting in the school closure in March which turned our educational world upside down, we are now looking at other options that will continue to provide us with new experiences. Many things are currently in moment and now that we have received feedback from parents and staff members via the survey, there are district teams currently working on plans for the upcoming school year. Once those plans are solidified, the district and I will be communicating them to you. I’m sure our students will be re-energized with a hope they will have the best year yet.

To start the year off right, ongoing communication is vital to be “in the know” and engaged in your student’s school life. I invite you to take a look at our school website (www.cpl.etiwanda.org) which provides information on upcoming events, important teacher webpage links, announcements, and many other educational resources. Our online gradebook, Aeries.net, provides you with a live view of your student’s grades. For our transitional kindergarten and kindergarten students, I encourage you to initiate the enrollment process at http://www.etiwanda.org/departments/enrollment_and_transfers/enrollment.

As we approach the beginning of the school year you will receive my weekly auto-dialer message and email to inform you about the upcoming week’s events. This contact information is compiled using your preferences in the Aeries Parent Portal.

Our PTO has been instrumental in providing many school events and activities that enhance our school culture and climate. Our PTO membership drive will begin when school starts. Please stay tuned for more information about our membership drive.

Our district's theme this year is Imagine, Invent, Inspire! It is a science theme based around the engineering mindset and hands on approach to science that our new NGSS science textbooks will offer.

Welcome to the 2020-2021 school year!

Proud to be a Leopard and especially proud to be your principal! Mr. Kooyman
